Catseye Beach is one of the best beaches on Hamilton Island – if not the whole of the Whitsunday Islands – for those who want all the trimmings of a coastal experience.

Situated on the resort side of the islands, you’ll be within short walking or buggy distance of all the main hotels and holiday accommodation, while there are also many cafes and eateries just behind you.

In front of you, its central north-facing stretch of sand looks out to Whitsunday Island and the shimmering waters of the Coral Sea, to provide you with the ultimate vista in which to relax.

Like much of the rest of Hamilton Island, Catseye Beach is man-made. Not that you would know.

However, what you will recognise is that the beach is a popular spot for watersports. So, you can choose to kick back and relax on the sand or venture into the water as your heart desires.

Water Activities at Catseye Beach

Catseye Beach is a fabulous place for sunbathing, swimming, reading a book or simply relaxing with your Spotify playlist.

However, if you fancy venturing into the water, the Hamilton Island Beach Sports offers a wide range of watersports equipment, including windsurfing, paddleboards, kayaks and catamaran, all of which will enable you to venture around the bay.

For many people, the real drawcard of visiting Catseye Beach is the chance to go snorkelling around the reef fringes that bookend the beach. These include Fitzalan Island Reef on the left hand side of the water, as you look out to Whitsunday Island, and the Perseverance Reef on the right side.

Whichever way you decide to go, the vibrant marine life and brilliant coral formations that inhabit these Great Barrier Reef waters are sure to ‘WOW’ you!

Make sure you keep an eye out for whales and sea turtles which are known to frequent the area.

If you happen to be at this Whitsunday beach when the tide is low, take the opportunity to walk out to the sand flats to see Catseye Beach and Hamilton Island from a different perspective.

Weddings at Catseye Beach

During your time on Catseye Beach there is a good chance you’ll see a wedding. That is because it is one of the most popular settings on Hamilton Island for couples to get married.

The exact location depends on a variety of factors such as time of day and tide patterns, but against the backdrop of the turquoise waters and the lush island foliage of the surrounding islands, its always a beautiful sight to see.

If you fancy getting married at the beach yourself, you should contact Hamilton Island Weddings.
