Everything You Need To Know About Visiting Warana Beach

Pristine Beach in between Kawana and Caloundra perfect for dog walking

Warana Beach Visitor Guide

Warana Beach is one of a string of beaches on the Sunshine Coast that fit within a glorious 9 km stretch from Port Cartwright to Wurtulla. More specifically it is sandwiched in between the suburbs of Kawana and Bokarina, just slightly north of its central point.

You can get to the beach between access points 229 – 238. However, as it is unpatrolled, you will have to swim and surf at your own risk as there are plenty of rips in this part of the Coral Sea.

For this reason, you might be better off going to nearby Kawana Beach for a swim as the Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club will be able to keep a watchful eye on you, assuming you do so between the yellow and red flags.

One of the main drawcards of this beach is that it lends itself to nice long walks, particularly with your dog, which you can do off-leash at all times between Access points 229 and 238. Just make sure they don’t venture off into the Warana Foreshore Bushland Reserve or dunal areas, as this is off-limits to them to protect the native animals and foreshore area.

Fishing is another activity some people partake in directly off the shoreline at Warana Beach, while public amenities, picnic facilities and children’s playgrounds are situated at the Paul Niesler Park (point access 237) and John Hotton Park (point access 232). You will also find beach showers near most of the entrances to the sand.

Accommodation and Parking

There is little in the way of holiday accommodation at Warana Beach, other than the odd private, holiday rental. So, if you are looking for a place to stay you will be better off heading towards Kawana, Caloundra or Mooloolaba, in particular where there are plenty of options.

Regardless of where you stay, when you do visit Warana, you will find plenty of free parking spots close by the foreshore and in the surrounding neighbourhood.
