Dramatic Beach facing Keppel Bay and the Coral Sea on the Capricorn Coast
Lammermoor Beach is a beautiful sweep of a beach located about 5 km south of the Yeppoon CBD.
Much quieter than the Yeppoon Main Beach, it enjoys a dramatic setting, looking out to Keppel Bay and the Coral Sea. It’s long, wide stretch of sand extends for about 2.5 km and is flanked by some huge rocks which you can easily climb on. It is also backed by a foredune of Casuarina trees that gives it a very fresh and tropical feel.
The beach is not patrolled, so while you can swim in the water, you will need to exercise caution, particularly with regards to seasonal jellyfish. Many people use its rock area to fish, particularly at high tide, while at its southern end, Statue Bay, you can launch canoes and kayaks. Surfing is also possible when conditions are right.
Additionally, the beach is popular with photographs, due to the views you get of various islands in Keppel Bay, beachcombers, and those who enjoy beach walking. You can even bring your four-legged friend with you, but they will need to remain on a leash at all times between 8 am and 4 pm.
