FAQs about Queensland Beaches

Here are some answers to questions that I am frequently asked about the beaches in Queensland.

What are the best beaches in Queensland?

Queensland is home to some of the world’s best beaches, with options for every kind of beach lover. It’s hard to say which are the best beaches. However, my personal favourites are Mooloolaba Beach on the Sunshine Coast, Rules Beach in the Gladstone Region, Palm Cove in Tropical North Queensland, and Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays.

What is the most famous Beach in Queensland?

This is a tough question! I would probably say Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast because many people have heard of it. However, Whitehaven Beach was voted the “Best Beach in the world” by TripAdvisor in 2021 and the “Best Beach on the Planet” by TimeOut in 2025. So, it can also easily lay claim to being the most famous.

What beach should I go to on holiday in Queensland?

If you are considering a Queensland beach holiday, Noosa Main Beach on the Sunshine Coast is a fantastic option as it is family-friendly, and has plenty of good shopping, eating, and hotel options.

Alternatively, Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast is a top spot for surfing and has laid-back vibe, while Palm Cove is well worth going to for its stunning scenery and proximity to the Great Barrier Reef.

What are some “must visit” Queensland beaches?

Queensland has plenty of “must-visit” beaches, but probably the most iconic are spots like Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays, Palm Cove near Cairns, Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast and Noosa Main Beach on the Sunshine Coast.
