Suttons Beach: Beautiful Beach on the Redcliffe Peninsula

Family-friendly Beach in the Moreton Bay Region just 40 km from Brisbane

Gorgeous view of Suttons Beach in Redcliffe, Queensland

Suttons Beach has been a popular coastal destination in Redcliffe since well before Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb, aka the Bee Gees, moved into the area in the late 1950s.

Nestled on the scenic Redcliffe foreshore that lies within the Moreton Bay Region, the beach is one of the best beaches near Brisbane. It is patrolled by the Redcliffe SLSC.

While the waves at Suttons Beach are small, it is one of the more popular and open swimming beaches on the Redcliffe Peninsula. It is protected by the spectacular backdrop of Moreton Island and comprises shallow low-tide sand flats and a sandy beach at high tide, which provides a safe and fun environment to swim in.

Flanking the beach is a large foreshore reserve that features, plenty of car parking spaces, picnic areas, a children’s playground and various beach facilities.

The beach is quite exposed and doesn’t offer much in the way of shade, so you should take a cabana with you and make sure you slip, slop, slap, seek and slide while you are there.

Where to eat at Suttons Beach

In terms of food options, Sutton Beach provides some decent options. A short walk in any direction will bring you to a range of cafes, restaurants, fish and chip stores and boutique shops.

You’ll find a wide range of cuisines available and most of the venues cater to many common food issues, such as gluten and dairy intolerances and nut and soy allergies.

A couple of good options to try are Cactus Jack’s, for Mexican inspired food and The Rustic Olive Cafe, which specialises in Italian fare.

    Getting There

As Suttons Beach is just a 40 minute drive north of the Brisbane CBD, it is an easy destination to drive to and you’ll find free car parking throughout the Redcliffe peninsula.

If you do have access to a car, both the Kangaroo and Hornibrook bus lines can take you there from Caboolture and Brisbane respectively.
